FAQs

Q. IS THIS SERVICE EASY TO ARRANGE?

Yes it is, you can phone or email to arrange a free no obligation consultation at your convenience. Emma or Stephen will come to your home for a friendly chat and to meet you and your dog. We will go through all your requirements, then all of the relevant paperwork including our T&C’S. You are then ready to use our dog walking service!

Q. HOW DO YOU TRANSPORT MY PET AND HOW MANY DOGS DO THEY WALK WITH?

Helping Hands don't use vans with cages to transport your dog(s), instead we have your dog safely fastened in our vehicles with seat belt clips. Your dog will be happy to look out of the window and watch the world go by as they travel to their walking destination. Your HH Dog Walker will bring along suitable buddies for your pet to play and socialise with. We walk in small groups, each of our dog walkers are insured to walk up to 6 dogs per walk. We see friendships blossom amongst the dogs, so we try and keep the groups as similar as possible each week depending on who has booked in.

  Q. WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU TAKE MY DOG OUT?

We provide an hourly service, we collect your dog from home, take him/her on a short enjoyable journey to a location such as woodland or countryside walks. Our walks are designed to suit all ages of dogs large or small, whatever the weather. The variation of breeds and ages amongst our groups is another reason why it’s a great way to socialise your dog! Some younger dogs might not want to play chase or fetch, so they can enjoy venturing around with one of the older dogs. All of our dogs are supervised at all times by their HH walker. When your dog is dropped back off at home we will settle them and leave you a note about their adventures.

Q. DO YOU PROVIDE ANY TRAINING FOR MY DOG?

Yes, every puppy and dog that joins Helping Hands Dog Walking Service is taught the basic commands of sit and wait. We make sure each dog recalls well on lead before we let them off (with the owner’s permission) All of our dogs are taught to sit correctly in the vehicles when travelling too.

Q. HOW MANY DAYS A WEEK CAN I BOOK?

There is a minimum of two walks a week on our service as we feel this helps to keep our dogs in a good routine, socially with their friends. Helping Hands strive to make our service as flexible as possible, we understand circumstances can sometimes change after initially booking in on a Sunday; if that is the case all you would need to do is text whether it’s to cancel a walk or book in an extra walk.

Q. WHAT IF MY DOG IS IN SEASON?

Helping Hands don't penalise or make a fuss when your Dog goes into season, our service is about adaptability. We simply put your dog onto a 30 minute solo walk from home.

Q. DO I NEED TO PROVIDE ANYTHING?

All dogs must have their collar and lead left out for their walk, we also ask if a towel can be left out on rainy days. We clean the dogs after their walks, but a towel at home helps us give your dog a final wipe down before we leave. Helping Hands provide all the poop bags. When we drop your dog off after their walk, we refresh their water and give them a treat (If allowed ) so they are rested and happy for when you get home.

Q. WHAT AREA'S DO YOU COVER?

Helping Hands provide this service in the following areas:

GATESHEAD.... All Gateshead Central, Low Fell, Crawcrook, Ryton, Lamesley, Dunston,  Blaydon, Stella Estate, Sunniside and Whickham.
